Press Release

To: all members of the Ethnic Press and Media

Dear friends and colleagues, brothers and sisters in the ethnic press and media:

It is with a real pleasure that I can report to you today the full success of our historic first exhibition of the Ethnic Press and Media at the Rotunda of the Toronto City Hall.

Over the period of the six-day exhibition thousands of people visited the exhibition and we heard them expressing their satisfaction for the way the business of the sector are organized.

As the exhibition is ended today, we are preparing to carry on with the locations of North York, East York, Scarborough, Etobicoke and Mississauga. As soon as we would have the acceptance for the space we would notify you about our plans.

I hope to have the exhibition also in Montreal, Ottawa, Winnipeg and Western Canada, early next year.

According to his worship David Miller, the Mayor of Toronto, it was for the first time that so many people visited the City Hall and spent time studying the exhibition. Among our visitors we welcomed a great number of University researchers and students as they worked in different projects about the ethnic press and Media of Canada.

At this point I want to express my warm thanks to Clyde McNeil and Dr. Bikram Lamba, for their efforts and help provided to our organization and the many ours of personal work they provided for the success of the exhibition. My deep gratitude and personal thanks to Irene Keroglidis, for her cultural contributions and the financial support we received from her. My gratitude goes also to Sharifa Khan, President of Balmoral Marketing, and her very skilled staff, (Mr. Johnson and Nick), for the technical and financial support we received as well as the logistics they provided to us. In fact they build our success on solid grounds. Our thanks and gratitude goes also to Leonard (Leni) Lombardi, president of Chin Radio and TV International for their financial assistance and support of the exhibition. Thanks Leni, your co-operation is recognized and appreciated. Thanks also goes to president of the Ethnic Channels for their financial support and co-operation, as well as to Jack Kyriazakos, President of the “Brazilian Canadian Coffee”, to Tom Michalopoulos, President of the “Coffee Time Donuts and Friendly Greek Restaurants”, Mr. Lu Vavaroutsos, President of the “Old Mill Cadillac and Buick” and “East Side GM Oldsmobile and Pontiac”, for their generous financial support for the exhibition. Thanks go also to Dr. Josef Kourian, President of the “Alfa Laboratories”, for his great financial support, and also to George Seretis, President of the “Easy Plastics” and Tassos Milionis publisher of the “Greek Telephone Guide” for their annual financial contribution. Also, I want to express my gratitude to Mr. John Dagonas, President of “Duron Ontario construction company”, for his financial support, Mr. Peter Foustanellas, President of Olympia Homes, from Ottawa and Mr. Peter Xenias, President of Skyhawk Steel Construction” for their financial support. Thanks goes also to bro Ahmad Shah Hotaki, and his wonderful family and kids for providing Afghani Foods and also the Artist who donated one of his art works to the City of Toronto.

Besides them all my thanks and gratitude to my colleagues Iraj Emad and Hassan Zerehi, for their work and contributions as well as Subnam Janani, Myriam Aghvani, Neel Nanda and the one and only Luba Cherni, for their dedication and help provided. Our gratitude and deep appreciation goes to his worship David Miller, Mayor of the great City of Toronto, his director of communications Don Wanagas, and the staff of the Toronto City hall for their understanding, help and acceptance.

Thank you all for your participation and the good services you provide to our communities, I want you to know how proud I am for all of you, as you elevated the standards of our sector real very high. By the middle of the next month I am going to reveille the names of the winners for the “best publication of the year”, as two members of the committee already left today for vacations and they are coming back some time in August.
