Dear friends and colleagues, Brothers and Sisters in the ethnic press and media:
As you are aware, the official speaker at our monthly meeting in October 2007, was the leader of the official opposition in the federal parliament of Canada, Mr. Stephane Dion, as well as his worship the Mayor of Toronto David Miller. It was an event of historic proportions due to the fact that every member had the opportunity to ask questions and get back answers. I am waiting to get the minutes from our secretary in order to inform you better about the business of this meeting.
On Monday, October the 29, 2007, His Honour, the L. Governor of Ontario, organized and hosted our Awards 2007 ceremony at the L. G’s suite, at the main legislative building, Queens Park, in Toronto. It was a historic event as we enjoyed the hospitality of His Honour and His staff. Twenty-eight members of the ethnic communities and also from our sector recognized and honored for their contributions to society at large as well as to our industry. Taking this opportunity today, I want to extend to all them our best wishes and encourage them to continue their good work for the benefit of our communities at large. I must, also, emphasize how well the event was organized and extend our gratitude and warm thanks to the Honourable David C. Onley, Lieutenant Governor of Ontario and His staff, for the great service they provided to our organization and its member organizations. Taking this opportunity I want to express my gratitude to Dr. Bikram Lamba, to Clyde McNeil, to Neel Nanda, to Sima Zerehi, to Irene Keroglides, to Maria Voutsinas, John S. Saraidaris, to Peter Aylan-Parker and all who helped me in any way to organize and execute the complex agenda of this event. Thanks also to my great friend and consultant Luba Cherny of the Canadian Courier, for her great help and also to Prof. Crunin for his help and the donation of one artistic masterpiece of his to His Honour the L.G. on behalf of the entire ethnic communities of Canada. Thanks also to musicians, they entertained our guests and our honorees and help made the event a great success. Finally I want to thank the 29 men and women we recognized this year for their love, enthusiasm and energy and their efforts to make our society a better place for all of us, for our families and our children. Congratulations also to Mayor David Miller of Toronto and his director of communications Don Wanagas, for accepting the honorary position of Chair and Member of the Board of directors of NEPMCC. Special thanks to Sima Zerehi, for her help and participation in the ceremony and our secretary Neel Nanda for placing himself, full time, in the service of the organization for the last five days. Thank you all and congratulations, Thomas S. Saras President |
